BIO:

I started making jewelry in March of 1971 at Golden High school. I got my first job in the jewelry business in April at a store called The Village Smith Gallery in Heritage Square. I worked there from April through August of 1971. I started working for El Rey Goldsmiths, also in Heritage Square, during Xmas break of my freshman year at CU, and continued to work there on weekends until the summer of 1972. I decided that this was my calling and I started to work there full time. I continued to work at El Rey until November 1974 when I opened Purvis Jewelers, at 9797 West Colfax in the Colfax Kipling Shopping Center. I stayed there for 27 years and relocated to 9190 West Colfax at Garrison in November 2001 until 2019.
During my almost 50 years in the jewelry business, I was President of the Rocky Mountain Jewelers Association twice, for a total of over 13 years, I was President of the American Gem Society Rocky Mountain Guild for over 11 years, and the Vice President of the GIA Alumni Association for over 6 years. I achieved the title of Certified Gemologist Appraiser through the American Gem Society and I have won over 20 awards for jewelry design including DeBeers Diamonds of Today and Jewelers of America’s national design competition.
My goal for my customers is to create beautiful jewelry that will last a lifetime and can be passed on from generation to generation. We specialize in creating one of a kind custom jewelry that will express your style and taste. Come in and let us create that one of a kind piece for you.
